Robert Phillips becomes CEO of Edelman companies in the UK.
Susan Eastoe promoted and extends role as Deputy CEO.
Pamela Fieldhouse promoted to MD, Corporate.
Alex Bigg promoted to MD, Public affairs.
Jackie Cooper becomes UK Creative director and Vice chair, Edelman UK.
London, 24 April 2007 - Edelman, the world's largest independent Public Relations firm, today announces a new line-up for its senior team in London.
Robert Phillips, one of the two Founding Partners of Jackie Cooper PR (JCPR), acquired by Edelman in May 2004, becomes CEO of the Edelman companies in the UK with immediate effect.
Jackie Cooper assumes the title of UK Creative Director - working across all London Practice Areas - and will serve as Vice Chair of Edelman UK.
Susan Eastoe, formerly Deputy CEO of Edelman London and MD of the Public Affairs division in London and Edinburgh, extends her role as Deputy CEO of the Edelman companies in the UK.
Pamela Fieldhouse, previously a Director in the Corporate Practice at Edelman, is promoted to Managing Director, Corporate, while Alex Bigg - a six year Edelman veteran - is promoted to Managing Director, Public Affairs. Susan Eastoe will continue with her Practice involvement - but will also spend more time working alongside Phillips to develop more cross-practice, cross-company initiatives and client programmes. A further development sees Simon Nayyar, currently Vice Chairman of Edelman Public Affairs in London, extend his role with a broader European remit, working alongside Edelman offices in Brussels and with the Edelman Public Affairs affiliates across Europe.
These moves follow the decision to formally merge the hitherto distinct P&L and business groupings of JCPR and Edelman London, three years after the acquisition of JCPR. The JCPR brand will, however, remain - and will continue as the consumer arm of Edelman in London.
As part of the new line-up, Edelman's current CEO, Stuart Smith, has left the company.
David Brain, President & CEO of Edelman Europe, comments: "Today's moves are a testament to the terrific progress that the Edelman companies in the UK have made over the past three years. The acquisition of JCPR in 2004 has proved to be possibly the best PR company purchase in recent times - Edelman is almost twice the size it was three years ago, JCPR has grown by 40% in thirty six months, and we are, as one company and one team, winning both major global, regional and local business. We are clearly, Better Together".
"However, we felt that maintaining two separate P&Ls created an arbitrary division when many of our clients want us to be totally joined up. Both businesses will be moving into one building in 12 months, but in the meantime we want to be able to deploy the very best specialist talent, regardless of practice area and the old structure was beginning to get in the way of that."
Continues Brain: "I would like to thank Stuart Smith for the role he has played over the past three and a half years and his active part in Edelman London's successful growth. I would also like to say that, in Robert and Susan - and with Jackie in the newly-formed UK Creative Role - I think we have the best possible team to drive Edelman UK forward in the next chapter of its development and progress. JCPR remains an essential ingredient within the Edelman UK mix - and I can confirm that it will continue to serve as the consumer arm of Edelman in London, delivering outstanding and award-winning consumer brand campaigns."
Robert Phillips adds: "Three years ago, when Jackie and I sold our company to Edelman, we hoped that it would be a spark and a catalyst to strong growth and both commercial and professional success for both Edelman and for JCPR. Although there was never a formal timetable to bring the two companies together as one business unit, it has become increasingly evident in recent months that this is absolutely in the best interests of both our clients and our people. The work on Shell and on Motorola and in the Consumer Health arena - together with the recent win of the Xbox business across Europe and the UK - is tangible proof that the two teams are indeed Better Together. We have a compelling story to tell and a genuine authority to demonstrate leadership as an award-winning, multi-practice, multi-geography company. This is what the Next Chapter will be all about".
Jackie Cooper concludes: "Edelman has led the PR world, internationally and with true vision, for over fifty-five years. London has, for four decades, been an integral part of the Edelman story and I am excited and challenged by the opportunity to take this to the next level. I am exceptionally proud of what we have achieved as part of the Edelman family over the past three years - and the powerful combination of enviable resource, break-through thinking and the creativity we offer means that the best is still to come".
